Sirtex Medical Europe GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sirtex Medical Limited, a publicly-listed company on the Sydney Stock Exchange engaged in the field of liver-directed therapies for oncology.  Their innovative technology, SIR-Spheres® microspheres, was approved in 2002 for use in the treatment of unresectable liver tumors within the European Union under a CE Mark and for the treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastases in combination with FUDR intra-arterial chemotherapy by the US Food & Drug Administration.

Thirteen prospective clinical trials have demonstrated that SIR-Spheres microspheres are an effective and well-tolerated treatment for liver-only or liver-predominant tumours from both primary disease and secondary metastases.

Sirtex’s commitment to the oncology community extends far beyond the development of innovative technologies such as SIR-Spheres microspheres.

    • Hollow, biodegradable microspheres that may provide the potential for programmable, targeted delivery mechanism of therapeutic agents
    • Radioprotector technology as a potential adjuvant to further expand the role of radioembolisation, external beam radiotherapy etc
